About CAITA
Information technology industry is changing
at a fast pace, in order to stay current, we have to make changes. First of
all, include the information technology industry overall is a better
representation of our members; as a result, the Southern California Chinese
Computer
Association (SCCCA) will be renamed to be known as Chinese American
Information Technology Association (CAITA).
As our members expand their scopes and
realign their businesses, we recognize that their
needs and interests have changed. More than a name change, this represents a
shift in our focus to ensure our efforts and services stay relevant. A few
of the benefits of membership in
the association are:
Some of the future services that the
Association may offer include, but are not limited to, analyze how today’s
company can stay current with new high-tech trends and incorporate these
ideas and new product lines into their businesses. The current industry
trend has forced brand name computer businesses to restructure and reduce
cost by moving manufacturing plants to Asia. This has resulted in lower
profit margins and less differentiation in products and sectors. We have
also seen a higher degree of direct buyer/seller transactions due to the
speed and efficiency of the internet, which has further decreased the market
share available to small businesses.
As the market changes, small computer and
information technology companies must look for a competitive advantage
within the industry. In order to accomplish this, we must explore both
internal and external options. Some businesses have started to incorporate
new technology and electronic goods into their line of products to gain
efficiency. Others have acquired new distribution channels that have
resulted in cost reductions. These types of changes are a necessity in order
to maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace. At CAITA, we have done
the same by changing our name and opening our membership to the broader
information technology community.
The Information Technology (IT Industry),
which includes electronic goods like cell phones, digital cameras, plasma
TV’s, PDA’s, etc., are just some of products that had been integrated into
the emerging industry. Overall, the association prides itself in having the
capability
to provide excellent services and to tend to its members’ needs and
concerns. We hope to continue to be of great service to each of our current
members and look forward to helping new members meet their small business
goals and objectives in this new dynamic marketplace.
